Clean the fruit exterior

Brush and spray washing equipment

Rotating brush rolls and transverse spray bars work on the fruit surface inside a supported washing bed. The arrangement combines contact cleaning with rinsing before the fruit enters inspection and opening.

Expose the exterior to contact and rinsing

The brush bed supports and moves the fruit beneath the sprays. Contact loosens surface material, and the water carries it away from the working area. Even feeding helps prevent fruit from travelling through a crowded bed without adequate exposure.

For pomegranates, choose the brush contact and movement around fruit firmness, size and exterior condition. Check the surface after washing as well as visible cleaning, so excessive abrasion does not become an accepted consequence of a higher loading.

Give removed material a clear route out

Dirt leaving the fruit has to leave the washing circuit. The trough, debris collection and drain arrangement should be reachable without dismantling unrelated equipment. Spray nozzles also need inspection because uneven water delivery changes the cleaning action.

Where water is recirculated, collection, filtration and replacement are part of the selected configuration. The plant water-quality procedure determines the final rinse and any treatment used; brush contact itself is not a validated microbial-reduction process.

Send washed fruit to the agreed preparation operation

Washing and opening are separate operations. The washer releases cleaned fruit to visual inspection and the chosen aril-preparation route; it does not perform peel or membrane separation.

Allow working space for brush replacement, spray-bar service and cleaning the lower frame. An acceptance run should use representative fruit and check surface condition, discharge behaviour and retained debris at the intended feed pattern.

Questions about this equipment and process

Does this washer remove the pomegranate crown or separate arils?

Its duty is exterior washing. Opening and separating the fruit are specified as distinct preparation operations before the accepted arils reach extraction.
