Capacity selection

A capacity figure needs a material boundary

Whole fruit, accepted arils, extracted juice and evaporated water are different duties. Keep their quantities separate so the preparation, press and concentration equipment can be compared on the same project basis.

Identify the incoming material

State whether the equipment receives whole fruit, prepared arils or an existing juice stream. Specify the quantity and operating hours at that boundary.

For whole fruit, measure preparation rejects and accepted arils separately. A fruit-handling quantity cannot be copied directly into a press-duty specification.

Use the actual liquid condition

Convert between liquid mass and volume using the relevant density. Include product properties where they affect pumping, holding, thermal treatment or filling.

A buffer vessel covers a defined flow or operating-state difference. Establish the useful working inventory and how it will be controlled.

Describe concentrate and water removal separately

Use feed and target soluble solids to establish a material balance. Feed quantity, concentrate quantity and water removal should all appear in the process basis.

Include operating and cleaning states when discussing utilities. Continuous running demand and short-duration cleaning demand may create different connections.
