Equipment comparison

Disc clarifier or ultrafiltration?

These machines use different separation mechanisms. A useful comparison starts with the same feed and product target and includes both outlet quality and the complete operating cycle.

Compare the working mechanism

A disc-stack clarifier separates according to settling behaviour in a rotating bowl. Ultrafiltration uses a membrane with a permeate and retained stream.

Feed viscosity, particle characteristics and the selected outlet condition influence the choice. Neither machine name establishes that every juice will meet a particular clarity specification.

Compare more than the first outlet sample

Record product quality, retained liquid or concentrate, solids removal, usable run duration and restoration after cleaning. Use equivalent feed conditions for the comparison.

  • Clarifier: assess feed consistency, bowl operation and solids discharge.
  • Ultrafiltration: assess flux, pressure, retained stream and membrane limits.
  • Both routes: account for product held in equipment and connections.

Ask for a complete installed duty

Compare the included buffer vessels, pumps, connections, cleaning scope and access for routine service. A lower quoted machine price may describe a narrower supplied boundary.

Select from representative data and product requirements. Where a combination is proposed, ask which distinct problem each stage solves.
